Corrina, Leo and their family are our new Makery Featured Family!  They visit our Makery frequently and are always very active with all of the programs.  In the pictures above you can see Corrina and Leo enjoying a variety of Makery programs.  This family is always energetic and excited to learn. Bricks 4 Kidz Workshop

Sign up now for our Bricks 4 Kidz Workshop on March 12 from 3:30-4:30pm.  Students will build a machine, catapults, pyramid, derby car, building or other construction out of LEGO bricks while exploring engineering, architecture and physics.  Your child will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Mix It Up: Bricks 4 Kidz

If you have enjoyed our previous Mix It Up workshops or if you are curious and ready to try one out, come to the Mix It Up in the Makery on March 5th from 10:30 to 12:30pm. Kidzu will be presenting Mix It Up with Bricks 4 Kidz: Build up your own creations and participate in STEM activities using LEGOs of all shapes and sizes. Join Bricks 4 Kidz in the Makery as we Mix Up LEGO constructions and bring our imaginings to life. Throwback Thursday to Dale Chihuly sculptures!

This week we are going to take a look back at some of the amazing Makery Masterpiece projects that have been created in the Makery. One project that was especially unique to Kidzu was the Feb. 3rd. Makery Masterpiece. During this event children learned about Dale Chihuly sculptures. After the event the sculptures were featured in the Makery. Next time you stop but he Makery, look around to see if you can find any of the sculptures.

Makery Math!

Over the weekend we had an exciting Mix It Up in the Makery with MAKERY MATH! Visitors did a variety of tasks such as making their own structures and taking apart calculators or cash registers. Visitors were also able to create their own abacuses and then use them to record their measurements on a variety of tests around the Makery. One popular task was trying to guess how many pieces of Valentines Candy were in certain jars around the Makery!

Ancient Roman Mosaics

Last week we had an amazing Makery Masterpiece event. During this event we talked about Ancient Roman Mosaics and how they were used during this time period. Makery visitors were also able to create their own mosaic out of clay and a variety of beans. It was interesting to see how the different shapes and colors of beans could be used to created amazing patterns!

Unique creations!

One of the best things about the Makery is that kids can start with the same scrap and then use their own creativity to transform their idea into a reality. In the photo above we have two girls who both started with a CD disc as their inspiration.

Come visit the Makery!

The Makery is the perfect example of an environment where kids are able to truly express themselves. With our large scrap yard and our friendly staff the children are able to make incredible and unique creations like the ones featured in this photo. If you would like to stop by and open up your mind to all the possibilities our scrap yard has to offer, the Makery is open from 10 to 12:30pm and 2 to 5pm. We can’t wait to see you soon!
