Here are some pictures from the Makery Masterpiece event last week. We learned about Pablo Picasso and Cubism through making our own self portraits! We used techniques similar to Picasso and our portraits turned out great! Come visit the Makery on Thursday to participate in our next Makery Masterpiece!
Today at STEAM’D UP Art and Design we drew large portraits using our bodies! We learned about the amazing techniques that can be used to create unique designs and patterns. Come stop by the Makery tomorrow for an exciting STEAM’D UP Science and Technology!

These weekend we had an amazing learning experience with Donocan from Paperhand Puppet Intervention. During our Mix It Up in the Makery kids made amazing papier-mâché birds! Don’t miss out on the next Mix It Up in the Makery. Check the calendar and the home page for weekly updates!
We have had a lot of amazing inventors come into the Makery this morning! Two brothers built an aluminum foil piano for the Makey Makey and somebody else modified the piano into a water piano. Come into the Makery to explore the tools and the inventions others have created.
In the Makery this week we are going back in time to a period in our history when people would use natural elements to dye their clothes. We are using cranberry dye to create amazing patterns on fabric. Stop by the Makery to experiment with cranberry dye and your own fabric!
In the Makery we love getting messy in the mornings! This morning we are painting under water scenes with bubble wrap and fish cut outs. Come learn how to use unconventional items in your artwork!
We are very thankful in the Makery for all of the amazing people who come in and visit us every day. We love learning from our visitors and helping make their Kidzu experience the best it can be. Kidzu ended the week with a creative Reuse day in the Makery! In celebration of the end of Scrapel Hill we made cd mobiles and created a tree using bottle caps! These amazing creations are now being displayed in the Makery. Come stop by to experience the creative use of recycled materials.
This week we had an amazing Makery Masterpiece event. We learned about Spiral Jetty and created Earth sculptures using sand, rocks, and other elements from nature. Some children made sculptures in our Makery sandbox while others designed sand art on paper. There were many unique creations made this week and they all turned out to be amazing!
