An amazing Kidzu visitor joined us in the Makery and helped by creating a control panel for the new spaceship. She used a variety of
During the summer we love taking a look back at our old Mix It Ups. Last month we had an exciting Mix It Up with Susan Parrish as we celebrated pollinators. Don’t miss the new and exciting Mix It Ups coming up this week!
This summer our Kidzu staff is on the go. Check out one of the Makery fellows who is visiting the Outer Banks! The Outer Banks are one of the northernmost areas for sea turtles to nest. Christy and her family participated in the OBX turtle crawl and they located eggs and marked a nest #13. After the turtles make a nest it takes an average of 55 to 80 days for the eggs to hatch. Hopefully Christy will be able to make it back to the beach to see the turtles go back to the ocean! If you have a fun adventure you would like to share with Kidzu, add it in the comments below.
If you didn’t get a chance to come to the opening of Kidzu’s outdoor learning exhibit then you should definitely take a second to look through these photos. We had a lot of fun at the opening as we enjoyed a popsicle party sponsored by Luna Pops, the planting of an herb garden sponsored by Alfredo’s, and the ribbon cutting! Next time you come into Kidzu, don’t forget to enjoy a nice trip around the outdoor learning exhibit to explore all of the amazing new plants and features the garden has to offer.

and the pollinators are traveling far to see.
Some of the pollinators have ended up on the blog.
Can you search around and try to find a hiding bee?
There are two to find, so you must search and seek.
Find the hiding bees and you beat the challenge of the week.
Whoopee!
Yesterday we had a Mix It Up in the Makery with Amy Richards and Supergraphic Screen Printing! Supergraphic Screen Printing let us explore the art of printmaking and taught us how to use a screen to create pollinator images onto fabric. We also learned how to create intricate beehive sculptures with Amy Richards! Check out some of the photos from the event!
Bring the kids to celebrate the opening of The Front Yard: Kidzu’s Outdoor Learning Garden during National Pollinator Week! Help us put the finishing touches on our exhibit by planting the herb garden and decorating garden stakes. Luna Pops will provide delicious treats!
Afterward, adults are encouraged to head over to City Kitchen from 5:30 – 7:30pm to sip on Bee’s Knees cocktails where a portion of the proceeds of the cocktails purchased will benefit Kidzu. Need childcare? Kidzu’s has 15 spots available from 5:30-7:30pm for your kids to enjoy supervised play and a bee-themed movie. Cost is $15, for ages 3-9 (must be potty-trained).
Kids will enjoy a fun-filled night including exhibit play & exploration, a movie, and dinner from Alfredo’s Pizza Villa — one of our University Place restaurants.
