Happy Hour at City Kitchen

After our exhibit opening for The Front Yard adults are encouraged to head over to City Kitchen from 5:30 – 7:30pm to sip on Bee’s Knees cocktails where a portion of the proceeds of the cocktails purchased will benefit Kidzu. 

Need childcare? Kidzu’s has 15 spots available from 5:30-7:30pm for your kids to enjoy supervised play and a bee-themed movie. Cost is $15, for ages 3-9 (must be potty-trained)

Don’t Miss: Fourth of July Ice Cream

Join Kidzu for this summer’s COLD SNAP! Participants will chill out while mixing up a batch of homemade ice cream!  While the ingredients churn in the old fashioned maker, kids will join our guest scientist and explore a variety of frozen science experiments.  When the ice cream is served, we’ll visit the Maple View Mobile kiosk to add a free topping to our sweet, summer treat. Ages: 3-9  Cost: $10 per child

Don’t Miss: Fourth of July Tie Dye!

Join us for this fun event and make a Fourth of July (Red, White & Blue) t-shirt to show off your patriotic spirit and creativity! Program is geared to ages 5 and older. Kidzu will supply white t-shirts, but you are welcome to bring your own pre-washed white t-shirt. Drop-off is available for children 5 years and older. Please make sure to note your child’s age and shirt size. Cost: $12 (or $17 with drop-off childcare).

Create your own encaustic garden with Bob Palmatier

Flutter into the Makery this week as we celebrate the most colorful pollinators, butterflies! Kick off National Pollinator Week, as we use wax and symmetry to create our own encaustic garden. Bob Palmatier, local illustrator, and environmental educator will be bringing along his collection of butterflies and bees to help get us started!

American Dance Festival: Dancing Stories with Jody Cassell & Jude Casseday

Kidzu will be hosting a special workshop on June 29th. We will be partnering with the American Dance Festival to celebrate dancing stories with Jody Cassell & Jude Casseday. Through sounds, rhythms and creative movements children join in making stories come alive. These adventures are originals and/or folk stories created from real life experiences found in the newspaper. Ages PreK to 5th grade will enjoy all aspects of these literary tales. Parents Night Out!

The Next Parents’ Night Out is Friday, June 24 6:30-9:30pm:

Kids will enjoy a fun-filled night including exhibit play & exploration, a movie, and dinner from Alfredo’s Pizza Villa — one of our University Place restaurants. This is a drop-off event for children ages 3-9 (must be potty-trained). Kids will exercise their minds, bodies, imagination and independence. Mark your calendars now for these 2016 PNO’s from 6:30-9:30pm: 7/8, 7/22, 8/12, 8/26. Cost: $25 for the first child and $15 each additional child in the same household.
